Some vandals decided it would be nice to put spray foam insulation on the cars on my street. Of course mine was one of them. I can take the insulation off, but the residue does not want to budge. I've tried WD40, gasoline, Goo Gone but nothing budges it. I know I can scrape it off the windows if necessary, but how am I going to get it off the paint? It goes from the passenger front headlight to the rear brake light, all across the top of the car. I'm not reading good news from anywhere yet, but was hoping someone on here might have another idea. Please help, I'm desperate. Once dry, spray foam is a pain to get off. Solvents are generally not effective. The can actually says let it wear off your skin as the only way to deal with it.

I suggest maybe polishing or buffing compound and a buffer. Go easy and unfortunately be prepared for areas on your paint that will show your efforts. Talk to your insurance company as you may need the areas sprayed repainted. Maybe an auto detailer would have an idea or could redo the whole car with compound and blend it in.Daughter trying Simple Green (can't hurt but don't think it will work). Will try buffing and will definitely call insurance company. The part that really makes me mad is the car is going up for sale in another month or two. This will certainly diminish the value. I'll let you know if the buffing works, and/or insurance company. I'm afraid spdavid is correct. Some manufacturers of spray foam will tell you what removes their product, but it will probably remove the paint as well. Insurance company and paint shops are your next steps. Be sure to call the insurance company BEFORE you contribute to the damage! Possibly acetone would take it off, but that might damage the clear coat as well.

You might try it on an unseen area (hood or trunk lid) and see what happens. Mineral spirits wouldn't hurt the finish in my experience, but may not be effective. Original Goof Off is basically mineral spirits.Simple Green - full concentrate. Put water on the area, scrub with Simple Green on a cloth (needs elbow grease for sure), then rinse with water. It turns out that my neighbor was installing a window in the driveway and got some on my car. I was all stressed out because all the other threads that I read said "you're SOL." I went out last night and bought some Simple Green (high concentrate). I waited till the morning because I wanted to make sure it wasn't eating away at the paint.
