Prior to the IQ Air, I've bought the following products to try and remove cigarette smoke from my home:Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier, HEPA Air Cleaner, AP51030KHoneywell 50250-S 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air PurifierWinix PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner Modeland a 4th product which isn't on Amazon, the most expensive, a Dynamic CT500. It was advertised as being effective in Cigar Aficionado. It was just under $1000. I also bought Dynamic's Electrostatic Furnace Filter, which uses the exact same filter as the CT500. They do a fair job of removing dust, but I didn't see a huge improvement in smoke smell. The Whirpool, Honeywell and Winix do a fine job of removing particulates from the air, but they don't do much for smoke. I have had severe Spring and mild Fall allergies since I was 14 years old and am now almost 50 years beyond that! This product is amazing. We had a room with odor from bad paint and this filter clears it all up. If the filter is off, the smell comes back within 2 hours, but you would never... Without the four filter cartridges,this product can not use any more!Amazone forgot to send the four filter and do not help me to solve the problem positively! I can finally breathe. Expensive as all heck but very worth it if you are very sensitive to chemicals/dust. I initially had some problems with a few of the filters, but I called IQ Air and they fed exd me new filters super fast. Their customer service is excellent. I bought this unit from IQAir directly. I have MCS and was excited to find something that might help me. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. I personally feel like I did in this case.
