It helps with my pet dander but it's hard to tell how well because I have 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 cockatoos. It was highly recommended from my bird groomer that loves these! Unfortunately I didn't purchase one on Amazon, I got a gently used one from a local source. But from what I'm experiencing this is a very good filter. All good except filter cover. It will not turn on unless on properly. I used masking tape to hold it in place. It does the trick! It seems to be much better than the old air purifier (several years old) that we were using. I love these air purifiers; they don't take up a lot of room, they aren't horribly loud, and they do a great job. We now have four of them, and I recommend them highly.
