It sprays ever 9, 18, or 36 minutes or can be turned completely off. The unit looks nothing like the picture. Mine is brown and shaped like a bottle or drinking glass. I kept the unit because I wanted a scent spray system that would last longer than the small sense and spray I currently own. However, it sprays all day and all night unless you turn it off. I am sure that I will use more of the spray this way than with the smaller sense and spray unit. So far I've had it a couple weeks and it's still going, so hopefully it will last a few weeks longer. I currently have mine set on 36 minutes. The spray that comes out projects a mist approximately 4 feet and my cats are afraid of it when it goes off because it's like a squirt bottle. The only good thing I can say about this is that the fragrance is nice.

It's really over priced for what you get and compared to other fragrance dispensers. I'll likely go back to the plugin unit once the scent that was included with the sprayer runs out.
