The M8 is a great platform with an assortment of improvements over earlier models for sure, however stock vs stock power wise there are not considerable differences between the 107 Milwaukee Eight and the 103 HO Rushmore engine, about 2Hp & 3Tq. The dyno chart below compares our completely stock 2017 Road Glide Milwaukee Eight vs our completely stock 2015 Road Glide 103 HO.
Both tests were done after the dyno break in and were 5th gear runs. (Note 2017 bike hits 107 MPH speed limiter)Fuel Moto with Bob Menning at Fuel Moto.here's a review on the 2017 Milwaukee Eight 107" Road Glide by Bob M. one of Fuel Moto's product specialists: "I am really impressed with the 2017 Touring bikes overall. I will say the thing I like the best is new valving of the front forks. The upgrade really keeps the front end planted and it can handle big bumps better than the earlier bikes. The new Milwaukee 8 motor is a nice improvement as well. It is a very smooth platform with the addition of the counter balancer. e motor does sound different than the Twin Cam and I am not talking about exhaust note. I hear what I feel is the gear driven counter balancer. I do have to admit; I was not a fan of the sound of a gear drive cam in a Harley or an Oldsmobile. Torque delivery is very nice, very smooth and I do feel it is an improvement over the Twin Cam stock vs stock. I rode our 2017 Road Glide stock and with a prototype muffler upgrade and the improvement is about the same as one would get from the same upgrade on the Twin Cam.
In the end, I cannot wait to see what potential we can bring out of this new platform." Bob M. New Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 air cleaner 08-Up Touring We have now released our new air cleaner called the Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 which runs $129.00. This is a new design from Fuel Moto which uses a cnc machined 6061 billet backing plate along with a high flowing cleanable element.
It includes all necessary hardware and features a lifetime warranty on the entire kit including the element. We offer this new kit for the 2008-up FLH Touring models with earlier models following following. The great benefit of our new Pro Billet kit is the ease of installation, it is a quick and easy install and unlike many other kits you do not need to remove the throttle body bracket which is a pain, the billet material is also more durable than a cast plate. Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 kit Picture of back side of billet backing plate Here you can see the difference between the stock and stage 1 elements We are now going to go ahead and install the Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 air cleaner on a 2010 Touring. You are going to need a few basic hand tools including a 5/16 Allen, T27 Torx bit, 7/16 deep well socket, and last but not least some blue Loctite or similar locking agent. Installation is very easy and takes about 10 minutes. Step 1: Start with removing the factory air cleaner cover by unscrewing the large 5/16 allen bolt.
Set the cover aside as we will be installing it later Step 2: Remove the 3 torx bolts from the air cleaner plate and remove the element Step 3: Now that the element is removed, go ahead and remove the rubber breather tubes and save them, we will be reinstalling them with the new AC Step 4: Remove the breather bolts and set them aside, we will be reusing them Step 5: Remove plastic backing plate, we will not be reusing this Here is a picture of the throttle body with the backing plate removed. **Note** with this air cleaner you do not need to remove the metal throttle body support Step 6: Install Fuel Moto Billet backing plate, use supplied gasket between backing plate and throttle body. Use a small amount of Loctite on the 3 air filter stanchions. Step 7: Install Fuel Moto Breathers using the OEM breather bolts, use a small amount of Loctite Step 8: Install the snap in breather caps Step 9: Install OEM breather tubes to the FM breathers and to the billet backing plate
Step 10: Mount Fuel Moto filter element to the backing plate with the 3 supplied Torx screws, use a small amount of Loctite Here is a picture of the Fuel Moto Pro Billet Stage 1 air cleaner installed without the cover Step 11: Remove the rubber gasket and reinstall the factory cover, be sure to use the supplied washer between the cover and the air cleaner element.
