GET A QUOTE FOR YOUR CAR What is the Cold Air Intake all about? A cold air intake is an aftermarket add-on. In other words, it’s an engine modification, and it doesn’t come standard on your vehicle. If you’ve bought a used vehicle, the previous owner may have added this component. A cold air intake works to help your car engine breathe more effectively by moving the air filter to the upper wheel well where there is more cool air and less hot air. It reduces the air temperature while improving the air flow. The effect is more power when the throttle is wide open. Simply stated, it’s a way of increasing car engine performance. Your cold air intake is not checked as part of your routine service, though the attached air filter will be inspected.
The battery is disconnected The old air cleaner and intake tube is removed The new cold air intake system is installed The vehicle battery is reconnected The vehicle is road tested and checked for proper intake operation If you have a cold air intake installed on your vehicle, you should have it checked out when you bring your car in for servicing. If your goal is increased performance, and the intake is malfunctioning, you won’t get the results you expect. If you suspect the cold air intake is causing vehicle problems, have it looked at by one of our expert mechanics. What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Cold Air Intake? Reduced horsepower or general performance If you think your car is losing horsepower, have a qualified mechanic check out your performance issues. It will not cause further problems unless unfiltered air is entering the engine. If that is the case, have the cold air intake replaced right away. Some cold-air intake manufacturers suggest that you could see a 5-15 horsepower boost from such an upgrade. Not bad for a couple hundred bucks. Is a new high-flow exhaust absolutely required?
No, but it would certainly help. You could think of it kind of like blowing up a balloon. You breathe in nice and easy, a lungful of air, and then you have to blow it through a tiny tube to fill the balloon, and you'll note the exertion. Similarly, a new intake will help your engine breathe in, so a new exhaust will help your engine breathe out.best cheap hepa air purifierThe nice thing is, it's not an absolute requirement, so you can save up a few hundred bucks to do it at a later time.best mold air purifierWritten Benji's answer is pretty on the spot.  air purifier to get rid of weed smellOne thing I'd like to add, is that while aftermarket component manufacturers make all sorts of "HP" claims, and "better breathing", etc, it doesn't mean for one second that you're car will be faster or feel differently.
Its important to note that the way the original engine manufacturer sets up the engine, its control system, and its pumping characteristics (ie, intake, volumetric displacement, exhaust), is designed to make the car perform the way it was designed.  Torque off the line for good around town acceleration, more horsepower up the RPM curve to propel the car on the highway, etc.  But (the big BUT!), most aftermarket component claims for more HP almost always show it at higher RPMS, where you will almost never feel it (unless you're trying to pull a trailer at 5000 RPM in first gear).  After many years of swapping components, "chipping" motors, etc, I've finally and completely stopped, as absolutely ZERO of these things made the cars actually feel  faster, or feel any different, except they seemed to become more unreliable.   And aftermarket exhausts often make the car feel SLOWER, as you need to spin the motor at higher RPMs to actually get any more pumping efficiency and therefore the tiny bit more HP they claim you'll get.
There are exceptions of course, like turbo/super charging, which actually DO make the car faster most of the time.  And ECU "tuning" a turbo/super charged car can indeed make it feel somewhat faster some times. But all the crazy power claims made by the Bolt-On industry are usually just silly, and never really make anything better... although the modding may make you FEEL good about your car. 81 used & new from K&N Performance Cold Air Intake Kit 63-1564 with Lifetime Filter for Dodge Challenger/Charger, Chrysler 300 3.6L V6DetailsAiraid 300-637 PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer FREE Shipping. 36.2 x 18.1 x 10.2 inches #92,685 in Automotive (See top 100) #126 in Automotive > Performance Parts & Accessories > Filters > Air Intake #153 in Automotive > Performance Parts & Accessories > Emission System #225 in Automotive > Replacement Parts > Filters > Air Intake 14.2 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Performance Air Intake Systems How does a K&N High Flow Intake System increase horsepower?
By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. This begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. This larger filter fits into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points because it replaces your stock intake tube, and air box. This provides more airflow at lower restriction than a standard filter. The oversize air filter also captures and holds more dirt, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is also isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower. The filter attaches to an intake tube that reduces turbulence and accelerates airflow into the engine. Finally, the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon and ensures long life.
Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today. K&N High Flow Intake System - Bolt on Horsepower Guaranteed to Increase Horsepower K&N is clearly the defined leader in high quality performance cold air intake systems for car and trucks. We feel it is one of the best dollars to horsepower investments you can make for your vehicle. Our first air intake kit was built in 1992. K&N manufactures over 500 different part numbers and our team of engineers are constantly designing, building and testing new air intake systems. Oversized Washable High-Flow Air Filter K&N starts with the largest conical shaped high-flow air filter that fits into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points. This extra filter size provides even more airflow at lower restriction than a standard K&N O/E replacement filter that is limited to the size of the factory air box. The oversized air filter also captures and holds more dirt increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles).

Gerald L. Hall Jr. Ambrose S. Daigle III At first I was very hesitant about installing a cold air intake as I have little experience working with cars. I am currently overseas and was surprised at how fast the package arrived. I like how it adds a roar to my vehicle when I'm driving or even accelerating. Just installed this took a little over an hour while watching it on youtube. This intake on my black out 2014 dodge charger 3.6l makes my car sound crazy for a 3.6l I'm in awe. Da'sh response has become better on my doodge challenger v6 and there is a slight difference in performance and observant . Easy install although I wish you didn't have to cut the rubber weather stripping that goes around the intake box. Other than that it sounds awesome on my 2015 Charger. Install was easy but sits too high and rubs against the hood causing paint damage. Worried about future damage too it the more it sits. it works great in my car good fuel milage and sounds good.
