Loosened off to manual specs and then ran compressor for 10 minutes under no load. Closed tank tap and loaded it up. operates rattle gun and other air tools well and starts up when required. This compressor is fitted with a complete plastic belt guard. It can be removed by undoing six bolts and eight clips. The warranty states that the operator must check belt tension and belt alignment daily. However, it is necessary to remove the guard in order to do this. One of two things will happen, either the operator will comply with the warranty by removing the guard and discarding it because it is too much trouble to keep removing/refitting, not good OHS practice, or the operator will not check tension and alignment daily, as per the warranty and therefore negate the warranty.

Stanley need to provide two access apertures in the plastic guard, one to insert a pencil to check tension and one above the compressor pulley to visually check alignment. I also miss the isolation tap on the air outlet that I had on my other compressor. The drive belt is fitted with a plastic guard, the warranty requires all instructions to be followed but instructions include, 1- check belt tension daily 2- check belt alignment daily. However, you cannot do either, without complete removal of the guard (6 bolts and eight clips) This takes too much time and effort and will result in wear of the fittings. I have had this compressor for 3 years now and have not had any problems with it, works every time I need it. This belt drive compressor is pretty decent and will handle most applications well. The only thing I wish it had was a larger capacity tank as 50L is undersized for extended use such as spraying. If it came with a larger tank I would have given it 5 stars. Stanley lives up to it's reputation with this air compressor. I cannot fault it. Bought this unit in February this year and started spitting oil out the breather tube a week ago. I bought this compressor for $399 (on special) about a month ago and I thought I would post a review after using the machine for some time. It certainly is quieter than my previous SCA direct drive compressor (which I've used for the last 7 years - maintain them and they will last). I have spray-painted an entire 6x4 fully enclosed trailer and the Stanley handled it with ease. It is quite robust, designed well enough and is twin cylinder - only that it's an inline-twin, not a V-twin, so hard to detect at first sight. Only thing I found is that the belt tension was way too tight out of the box - but no problem to adjust, just follow the manual.

The manual is well written by the way (not 'Chinglish'). Parts look like good quality. Over all I'm very happy with it. It has a 95% duty cycle, unlike most of the 2.5HP direct models that only have a 25% duty cycle. I certainly do recommend this Stanley compressor - only wait until they go on special as I don't believe they are worth $750. So far so good it has done everything I wanted and value for money. Best Value for many compared to the $1000 Plus units out there, This Stanley unit does everything the more expensive ones do. Before this unit, l looked for months doing research of which Compressor to buy and l made the mistake of buying a more cheaper version, this cheaper unit claimed to be great for Trades people, but the first thing l tried was the drill and after 10 to 15 seconds l could hold the drill chuck in my hand and stop, there was hardly any power to it so l took it back and found the Stanley it is so powerful and keeps the power up to any tool none stop. I am so happy with my Stanley unit and l would recommend to everyone.
